Absztrakt (kivonat)
Authors of this paper analyze the functions of figures in the poetry of two outstanding poets from the modern and late-modern period. They analyze the meaning forming and structure organizing functions of figures in different periods of Ady Endre’s and József Attila’s poetry. A complete analysis is not achievable, but this paper can serve as an example for further stylistic researches as well as for stylistic researches of text variants in different languages. In our paper Kiss Tímea analyses Ady’s adjectional figures in samples taken from several volumes using method of functional stylistic analysis. She analyzes the function and meaning formation of figures in the texts. The analysis is opened with a short theoretical overview. In the second part of the work Lőrincz Julianna gives a short theory of translatology to help understand the relationship between the source and the target texts. Important questions like translatability, untranslatability, equivalency and intertextuality are discussed. Translation of poems is really difficult. Though they are not as untranslatable as Jakobson says, but such a creative process is needed, that creates texts applicable for the canon of the recipient culture. In the next part Kiss Tímea analyzes the figures in foreign language variants of Ady’s texts. Then in each analysis Lőrincz Julianna gives comparative analysis of figures in foreign language variants (Russian, English) in some of József Attila’s texts. The parallel analysis gives the opportunity for the writers to show the differences and sameness of the figures and structures used in different periods. The readers can get a picture about the difficulties of the foreign language recreation of József’s and Ady’s unique style, who are unquestionably outstanding poets in their own culture. We hope our paper can help teachers and students of highs schools and universities to evolve the ability of functional style analysis during poem analysis. Maybe it will be practical for those who are interested in equivalency of English, Russian, Italian and Slovak target variants of the analyzed texts and how these texts are adequate or non-adequate with the source texts.
