Absztrakt (kivonat)
THE PLANS OF ADAM BATTHYÁNY II AND BOLDIZSÁR PATACHICH FOR THE REORGANIZATION OF THE KINGDOM, BASED ON THE ESTATE OF BÉLA BARANYAI, AND THE QUESTION OF AUTHORSHIP In the centre of the paper there are two political drafts from the end of the reconquest of Hungary from the Turks. One of the drafts was less researched, the other was unknown from prior scholarship. Its discovery is thanks to the work and scholarly heritage of legal historian Béla Baranyai (1882–1945), who found the manuscript of the work, but didn’t publish it. The drafts written in 1699 and 1700/01 are products of the cooperation of the Hungarian aristocrat Adam II Batthyány (1662–1703) and the Croatian noble Balthasar Patachich (1663–1719). The notes of Baranyai are also very informative on the drafts. The authorship of Patachich is certain, but there are some partly new pieces of information that underline the role of Batthyány too. The Batthyány-Patachich drafts had a very interesting afterlife. The Rákóczi rebellion (1703–1711) postponed the discussions on political reforms, but the second draft was used by the committee for administrative reforms before the 1722–23 Diet of Hungary. The most important reform that can be traced back to the proposals of the Batthyány-Patachich draft was the establishment of the Lieutenancy Council.
