(The history of the ÉME, the Union of the Waking Hungarians, between 1918 and 1920) The author presents the history and functioning of a little known political organization, the extreme right ÉME, in its early period. We get acquatinted with its foundation, with the leaders and the basic principles. The charter of the union was passed on the general assembly on January 6th, 1919, in Budapest, and it totally determined the predominancy of the central will. It regulated the functioning of a strong, disciplined, courageous and easily mobilizable organization. The activity of the ÉME can be divided into two periods: the first is the time of the revolutions, and the second is the early period of the counter-revolution. The study surveys the chosen topic in relation to the nation-wide historic events.
