Networks in the Health Service. Public Health Supply Chain in the Interwar Period, in Particular as Regards the Tuberculosis ----- The establishment of the network of supply chain in health care rooted back to the 19th century. The Health Act of 1876 declared the establishment of the modern Hungarian health care system, and pursuant to this Act, an infrastructure of hospitals and spa baths was built in the service and rehabilitation of patients until the beginning of WWI. The region’s terrain, number of the population, typical illnesses and the general health conditions of the inhabitants living in the given geographical area had been all taken into consideration in the establishment of the system. However, the WWI and especially the Treaty of Trianon ruined all these efforts. The arbitrary modification of borders left some hospitals without patients in certain regions, or the opposite, patients were left without hospitals. The war also hindered the due modernization of hospitals. The Hungarian health care had to overcome these were the challenges during the interwar period, while it was establishing the institution of health supply chain of the modern era. The post Trianon Decree period can be divided into three phases of this network establishment. During the first phase, the legal foundations of the fragmented health care system was consolidated. In the second phase, hospitals and clinics were established in cities, and in the third phase, clinics were installed in villages as well. The structure of clinics tackling tuberculosis produced one of the most outstanding results of this system.
